New secondary standard dosimetric laboratory at Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology

In 2020, VF was awarded a contract from PTW-Asia Pacific Ltd., a subsidiary of PTW-Freiburg, Germany, for the supply of a new secondary standard radiation dosimetry laboratory at Thailand Institute of Nuclear Technology (TINT).
The complete calibration laboratory included the following:

  • OG-8 gamma irradiator
  • Seven radionuclide sources (Cs-137 and Co 60)
  • A 3D remotely operated positioning system allowing the setting of a source-detector distance from 0.7 to 5 m.
  • Safety interlocks preventing unwanted irradiation
  • A camera system
  • Area gamma monitors

Remote control computer with the DARS Control System, allowing remote control of the supplied irradiator and calibration bench.
In May 2021, despite the unexpected problems caused by the covid-19 pandemic, VF has successfully completed the installation.
Services provided included the calibration facility design, equipment manufacturing, installation, commissioning and the training of personnel.
