At the beginning of 2022, VF was awarded a large contract from the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission for the supply of a complete neutron calibration laboratory with various accessories to their premises in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The complete scope of supply included the following:

  • NI-03 panoramic neutron irradiator with a polyethylene moderator
  • Neutron and gamma radionuclide sources (Am/Be-241, Cf-252, Cs-137)
  • CB-60 fully automated 3D calibration bench for setting of the source-detector distance from 0.3 to 4 m.
  • A laser system with linear lasers
  • Cameras
  • A radiation monitoring system comprising area gamma detectors, area neutron detectors and display units.
  • A remote-control computer with the DARS Data and Control System
  • Bonner Sphere nested neutron spectrometer

VF also performed a Monte Carlo simulation of the calibration and control room and designed and supplied an additional neutron + gamma shielding and an entry maze to the irradiation room.
Other services provided included the facility design, equipment manufacturing, factory testing, delivery on site, installation, commissioning and the training of personnel.
