MAIN ADVANTAGES

  • 7 different gamma radiation sources
  • Provides homogeneous, collimated beam with dose rate of up to units of Gy/h
  • Very low dose rate on the irradiator’s surface
  • Independent mechanical indicator for carousel position verification
  • Fully automated irradiation process
  • Integrated safety system

DESCRIPTION

The gamma irradiator OG-08 fitted with appropriate radionuclide sources serves as a reference source of homogeneous collimated gamma-ray spectrum ranging from tenths of μGy/hr to Gy/hr. It is usually part of the calibration laboratories for dosing and gamma dose dispensers.

OG-08 consists of a rotary carousel up to 7 sources and lead shielding, radiation beam collimator, mechanical source position indicator, control unit and safety and signaling system. The adjustable feet of the irradiator allow correcting the height of the beam.

The sources are located at the bottom of the carousel which has seven positions for closed radionuclide sources and one parking position for putting the sources in a safe
status. All radiators are shielding in that eighth position.

The irradiator and technology of VF calibration laboratories are fully remote controlled from the connected PC using the DARS SW.

When irradiating started, the selected source is turning to an active position first, during shielding is still active. The source lift to direct position ahead the collimator is
realized immediately in the next step.

The irradiator is fitted with a safety system that ensures automatic irradiation stops in the case of a power failure. Exposed emitter returns by self into the shielded position thanks to the gravity. The irradiator can be fitted with different kinds of collimators.
